Letter E in Black Lives Matter

by Bryant Jones

“I was given the opportunity to decorate the letter E in this groundbreaking mural. I chose to depict social justice by doubling up the E image to represent and elevate the Englewood neighborhood, which happens to be where I’m from. My letter depicts a portrait of Breonna Taylor paired with the word ‘enough.’  In the center there is an image that reflects the scene of Laquan MaDonald’s murder, paired with the word ‘equality.’ I also included a portrait of Emmett Till to remind us of the struggles of the past.” B. ABOUT THE ARTIST

“As a lifelong Chicagoan, my purpose and goal as an artist is simply to bring beauty to this city, and everywhere the heavenly Father has allowed, in order to inspire change in other communities. I believe art is one catalyst towards breaking down barriers. Combining positive communication with bright and bold colors can cause uncomfortable yet necessary conversations to coalesce minds, hearts, and souls into a better place,  where we can all peacefully coexist.” B.
