Virtual Celebration

Students and faculty at Morton West High School will be creating a video celebrating Día de los Muertos 2020.


IN PARTNERSHIP WITH:


Curated Collection of Ofrenda Murals

October 24 – November 29

Regional artist Milton Coronado will create a series of mixed-media murals to honor and celebrate the beloved departed during Día de los Muertos. This unique outdoor public art exhibition will be original concepts and will incorporate images submitted by residents, include student collaborations, and lighting components sponsored by AR Electric Parts & Service. The murals will be installed outdoors for the community to visit through November 29.

La Catrina, born out of Mexican social satire depicting the upper classes, is still portrayed in art today to celebrate the holiday. This Catrina is sure to take over the grounds of Berwyn!

This virtual event will cap off the Día de los Muertos en Berwyn celebration series sponsored by the Berwyn Public Art Initiative in partnership with Berwyn School Districts 98, 100, & 201, and the Berwyn Public Library.

In 2019 the Berwyn Public Art Initiative sponsors the first annual Día de los Muertos celebration in Berwyn's Historic Depot District to honor the values and traditions of Berwyn's vibrant Latino/a/x community through the arts.
