Art Park — 2023

In 2022, due to Depot District construction, BPAI had to de-install the Art on Track Installations with help from local volunteers. Some panels were returned to the artists, and the remainder was installed with help from AR Electric at the South Berwyn Park District — Art Park located at Oak Park & 34th Street.

In 2023, we had a call for artists (see RFP) and received 41 submissions. Five submissions were presented to the community via an online poll to select three artists’ proposals to be installed between October and November.

Isaac Galvan: “The concept presented has the potential to enhance the consciousness of the Berwyn community with themes of inclusivity & Indigenous culture; the concepts of the mural also include a scope for gender identity, diversity & process.”

Shayne Taylor: “The design features an Art Deco-inspired bouquet of flowers. I wanted to combine graphic shapes with a lovely bouquet of fresh, brightly colored flowers. The dark, almost black, background serves to really make the colors of the flowers stand out. The shapes will be painted in a metallic gold to give it a little bit of sparkle.

Joshua Valdovinos “SNAGZ”: “Hive Mind | The little things in life that have a huge impact on our world. I’m paying homage to the great pollinator the bee.”
